Necklace Size Guide
Because everybody is beautifully unique, chain lengths can sit differently from person to person. Finding your ideal fit helps you choose the perfect everyday piece, build balanced stacks, and mix textures effortlessly.
Whether you’re creating a minimal look or layering multiple Leah Alexandra favorites, use this guide to determine the chain length that suits you best.
How to Measure Your Chain Length
What you’ll need:
A soft tape measure
or a piece of string and a pen/marker
1. Tape Measure Method
Wrap the soft tape measure around your neck.
Slide it around until it rests exactly where you’d like your chain to sit.
Note the measurement; this is your ideal chain length.
2. String Method
Wrap the string around your neck, marking the point where you want your chain to fall.
Lay the string flat and measure the length from the end to your mark using a ruler or measuring tape.
The measurement is your desired chain length.
Understanding Our Lengths:
Here’s a quick reference for how common chain lengths typically sit (may vary based on your neck size and personal fit preference):
14" – A close-to-the-neck fit; great for chokers or high-stack layers.
16" – A classic everyday length that sits around the collarbone.
18" – Slightly longer; perfect for pendants or building tiered layers.
20"+ – A more relaxed, lower-draping fit ideal for statement pieces or longer layering moments.
Extenders:
Most of our ready-made chains are designed with built-in 2" extenders, giving you flexible wear and easy layering.
Common lengths include:
16"-18"
18"-20"
This built-in adjustability helps you customize your fit and create perfectly spaced layers without needing additional components.
Standard-Length Chains:
Some chains especially those from our Spark Collection (permanently welded) come in standard lengths.
When adding a clasp to Spark chains, please let us know your preferred fit. Depending on the chain style, we can typically add a 1-2" extender.

Layering Tips:
Aim for 1-2” difference between layers for the most balanced look.
Combine textures (like a herringbone or nostalgia chain with a pendant chain) to create dimension.
Use extenders when needed to perfect spacing, especially with multi-layer looks.
